Our History
Fagersta Steel’s history began when a subsidiary of Sweden’s centuries-old Fagersta Stainless mill was established in Australia in 1964. The business developed into a distributor of stainless steel products, with its original operation in Melbourne followed by an expansion across Australia.
In 1992, Fagersta Steels became an independent Australian company wholly owned by local management and established itself as a market leader in stainless steel supply. It was subsequently acquired by OneSteel in 2007.
In 2013, Fagersta Steels was acquired by a private group of companies including E-Steel (Aust) Pty Ltd (established distributor of mild steel) and since that time has continued to evolve its offering to adapt to the changing needs of the Australian industry whilst maintaining the strength of the past.
The Fagersta brand has always been synonymous with experience, quality and service. The “Lily” logo – an iron mark that was pressed into iron billets of the past – is a symbol of Fagersta’s enduring history and ethos.
